Mission Statement

The Communicate Pennsylvania Community aims to bring together all individuals concerned with the communication of Pennsylvanians with intellectual disability or autism – people with disabilities (including users of augmentative and alternative communication [AAC]), family members, advocates, service providers, policy makers, and other stakeholders. The Communication for All Network will provide opportunities and mechanisms for (1) sharing ideas and resources as well as appropriate and/or promising practices, (2) raising awareness of current issues and barriers, and (3) problem-solving through collaboration.

Objectives:

  • To establish a network in which stakeholders can connect for ongoing sharing and learning regarding communication.
  • To provide a framework for collaboration to assure and preserve the right to communication services and supports for all Pennsylvanians with intellectual disability or autism.
  • To facilitate productive discussion among stakeholders in order to identify and propose solutions to resolve current issues which constrain communication access (e.g., attitudinal and systemic barriers).
  • To identify and disseminate information about existing resources, current policies, practices and other relevant materials
